personal work
Brief:
No brief for this, but I felt it necessary to include a random assortment of work I complete in my spare time as a creative outlet. They don’t normally end up anywhere, but they allow me to explore colors, layering, new textures, and can sometimes be the “lightbulb moment” in a new design. This experimentation is what keeps my mind curious and excited to try new things, from photography, sketching, painting and digital drawing- which much more accessible than pulling out a fresh canvas when I get an idea.
Approach:
I normally begin with a blank canvas, paper or by importing a paper doodle into the digital space, like Procreate. The process is never the same from start to finish, but I do select certain colors I want to use, although they change throughout the process, and doodle with different brushes until I feel the piece is complete.
Result:
I keep these as sources of inspiration on projects when I need to visualize color palettes and shapes. They were used as a foundation for the design of Mercer’s Art Dept. Trifold Display on the next page, and many other projects.
